"Today "classic" means appealing to baby boomers. It is a category used to sell these aging teenagers many of the same products they purchased 25 years ago. Everything old is marketed as "classic." Good article. But if you want roots, don't forget  Muddy, BB, Buddy, and the old school that came before them. Without the old school, Elvis wouldn't have had anything to teach the white folks. And people like Freddy who influenced Clapton, the Vaughns, etc.
