Ooops. Sue Me.

Wired News says: Public Protests NPR Link Policy:

On a form on its website, NPR says that "linking to or framing of any material on this site without the prior written consent of NPR is prohibited."

The original story started when:

Cory Doctorow posted up a link to the permission form on BoingBoing, his blog.

This is what happens "When Lawyers Attack." NPR is trying to control the context in which they are linked. This is like the word "and" trying to control its usage in the English language. It is not going to happen. It's almost as bad as some stupid company trying to go and name their firm "Monday" for crying out loud.

UPDATE: A Radio

It was a portable radio, according to 1010 WINS radio. Thank god. What a world we live in.

Bomb Scare in NYC?

My cell phone-based alert service, the excellent LocalAlert.com, is telling me they've cleared the area around the subway stop at 72nd and Broadway. An alert that came in also said "suspicious package." Now they're reopening the area. Nothing about it on the radio, except a delay in the 1-2-3 and 9 trains, skipping 72nd. Media crackdown? No information? Man, this sucks.
